Edese Golf Club Papendal
In the "backyard" of Hotel Arnhem you will find the Edese Golf Club Papendal. The golf course is situated in the characteristic moraine landscape of the Veluwezoom. The course is surrounded by forests, lanes and meadows. The beautiful golf course has naturally adapted to the landscape. The course has nice elevation changes and provides beautiful views. There are no water hazards but, to compensate, very many bunkers and, in summer, tough rough.
The golf club values nature and landscape and was one of the first clubs in the Netherlands to obtain the Committed to Green certificate. In 2011, the golf club managed to convert the CtG certificate to the GEO-ctg certificate. GEO thereby stands for Golf Environment Organization, and is the international successor to the CtG, which mainly caught on in the Netherlands.
The first nine holes were built in 1984 under the architecture of Frank Pennink. The expansion to 18 holes took place in 1992 by Joan Dudok van Heel. A renovation by architect Frank Pont was completed in 2008 making the course among the finest in the Netherlands.
The club was founded in 1978 and has about 900 members. The Edese Golf Club Papendal has a modern clubhouse and an excellent restaurant 'the Hofmeester' with a beautiful terrace.
